Frank Charles Bostock
Dates: 1866 - 1912
Biographical Account: Frank Bostock was born in Darlington, Co Durham and worked for various small British circuses throughout the late 19th century. In 1892, he worked for Wombwell's Menagerie, a travelling exhibition of exotic animals. Later he set up his own menageries, including one which exhibited at Coney Island in the USA, as part of the early theme park, Dreamland. His final venture was named Bostock's Jungle. The Jungle travelled from City to City during the early 20th century, visiting Sheffield twice between 1910 and 1913. He died in 1912, but his menageries continued to use his name for many years after.
