William E Bennett

Biographical Account: William Bennett began his training as a silversmith at Sheffield School of Art. During the early 1930s he studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in London under the guidance of Omar Ramsden, a renowned silversmith from Sheffield. In 1937 Bennett was appointed at the Sheffield School of Art. His notable designs included the first chain of office for the Chairman of Sheffield Town Trustees and a christening set which was chosen to represent British design in the Canadian National Exhibition in 1953.
