James Wilson Rimington-Wilson

Biographical Account: James Wilson Rimington-Wilson was born on 1st of July 1822.  He was given the name of James Wilson Rimington at birth, but on 24 July 1840, he legally changed his name to to James Wilson Rimington-Wilson by Royal Licence.  He was born, lived, and died at Broomhead Hall.  Rimington-Wilson was a keen gaming enthusiast; he collated an impressive collection of books on the subject, particularly chess.  He was also a strong amateur chess player and records of some of his games survive, including a victory over Wilhelm Steinitz, the first official world champion of chess.  James Wilson Rimington-Wilson died on 25 November 1877 at the age of 55.
