Arthur Whitaker
Dates: 1882 - 1949
Biographical Account: Arthur Whitaker was an architect, naturalist and artist.  He is perhaps most well known in ornithological circles, but was considered a fine 'all rounder,' able to locate and identify  a wide variety of species.  This is reflected in the fact that Weston Park Museum holds his collections of bird eggs, bats and lepidoptera.  Ever generous with his specimens, they can be found in museums across the region.  His collections are important as they were very well documented, with most specimens possessing details of where and when they were collected.  This makes Whitakers collections very important, particularly from a scientific point of view, as they can tell us much about the wildlife of the area at a particular point in time.
