William Patrick Roberts

Biographical Account: William Patrick Roberts was born in London on the 5 June 1895. He started out as an apprenticed to an advertising firm, in order to become a poster designer. During this time he attended evening classes at St Martin's School of Art , London and in 1910 he won a scholarship to Slade School of Art, where he studied until 1912. He studied alongside Dora Carrington, Mark Gertler, Christopher Nevinson, Stanley Spencer and David Bomberg. He has a fascination Post-Impressionism and Cubism. After leaving the Slade he travelled to France and Italy , where his interests grew.
