James Poole
Dates: British, 1804 - 1886
Biographical Account: James Poole  (1803/4-1886) was born in Birmingham, the son of merchant.
He and his brother William Poole, a portrait painter, settled in Sheffield in the 1820s. James was a landscape painter, travelling to Wales and Scotland, and Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland). In 1874 he was a founder member of Sheffield Society of Artists and its President. He taught drawing in local schools in Sheffield (including Collegiate School) and Chesterfield.
