Miss Margaret Alice Meyler
Dates: 1863-1962
Biographical Account: Margaret Meyler was the private secretary of Thomas Bainbridge Eden and his wife, Horatia Katherine Frances Eden (nee Gatty) from around 1901.  Thomas was the Headmaster of Hillbrow School, until 1908, when after a scandal, he was forcebly retired.  Miss Meyler continued to work at the school, as a 'Lady Matron' until at least 1911.  At some point between then and 1929, Meyler moved in with the Edens, continuing to work as the Eden's private secretary, but eventually becoming Horatia's companion.  When Horatia died in 1946, Meyler organised the few remaining parts of her collection and donated it to Sheffield Museum, presumably at the bequest of Horatia.
