Daniel Maclise

Biographical Account: Daniel Malcolm Maclise was born 25 January 1806, Cork, Ireland. During the mid 1820s he studied at the Cork School of Art, Ireland, before moving to London, where he enrolled at Royal Academy Schools in 1828. Maclise specialised in history and literary subjects as well as painting portraits. In the mid-1800s he was commissioned to paint murals in both the Houses of Parliament, House of Lords, and Westminster Palace.
