Sue Lowday studied Silversmithing and Jewellery at Sheffield School of Art and Design from 1974-1978. This tea set is a one off piece made for her final degree show. At this time, students were encouraged to work with members of staff to create a technically challenging piece of work.
After graduating, Sue undertook a number of private and public commissions. This included several pieces for Sheffield Assay Office and two celebratory medals for Lord Dainton, Chancellor of the University of Sheffield.
Sue has received several awards for her work, including a Yorkshire Arts Award from 2000-2003 and an Arts Council Award in 2004. Her work is included in the collections of Walsall Leather Museum, Manchester Museum of Costume, Sheffield Assay Office and The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths.
