John Sanderson & Son Ltd
Biographical Account: John Sanderson registered his silver mark at the Assay Office in October 1895. In the 1907 Sheffield commercial directory he is described as a "cap & ferrule maker". In 1917 John Sanderson & Son Ltd were listed as manufacturers of silver cutlery, based at Trafalgar Street and Westfield Terrace, Sheffield. The company was recorded as insolvent in 1929 but began trading again later the same year, at Argyle Works, Trafalgar Street. It used the mark 'Argyle Plate' for its silverware. The firm later became part of Harrison Fisher, and in 1972 had premises at Milton Street.
