Robert Kaye Greville

Biographical Account: Robert Kaye Greville was one of the most significant botanists of the 19th century. He receieved his Doctorate from the University of Glasgow in 1824 and became a celebrated lecturer in the natural sciences. He advised Margaret Gatty on microscopy techniques and the two exchanged specimens. In addition to his knowledge of the natural world, Greville was a gifted artist. He illustrated many of his own books, including Icones Filicum, which he wrote with William Jackson Hooker.
