Dates: 1822 - 1895
Biographical Account:

Mary Ann Godber was born in Sheffield in 1822. She lived in the township of Nether Hallam with her parents and her sister, Hannah Godber. By 1861 Mary Ann had moved to 60 Franklin Street, in the township of Ecclesall Bierlow, where she lived with various lodgers. At this time she was working as a provision dealer, buying and selling goods such as meat and vegetables. In 1871 Mary Ann appears in the census again, this time living at 111 Franklin Street where she was working as a dressmaker. We know that she continued to work as a dressmaker until at least 1881, when she is recorded living at 131 Washington Road with various lodgers. Mary Ann died in 1895, at the age of 73.
