Edinburgh Zoo
Dates: founded 1909
Biographical Account: Museums Sheffield, like most British museums, only purchase taxidermy made from animals that die of natural causes.  The only reliable supply of non-British animals to have died in this way, tends to be zoos such as Edinburgh.  Recent changes to zoo legislation has made it more difficult for taxidermists to obtain material from zoos and wildlife parks.  This may result in some taxidermists sourcing material by other means, such as from hunters, as is the usual case in the USA.
