Cooper Brothers
Dates: founded 1866
Biographical Account: Cooper Brothers were founded in 1866 in Sheffield by John William Cooper and his brother Tom. They specialised in silver and  electro-plate, mainly making spoons and forks. In 1895 the business became a limited liability company and changed their name to Cooper Brothers & Sons Ltd. After the death of J W Cooper in 1911the firm continued to be a family business and in 1929 they began to produce stainless steel flatware.  In 1983 the business was purchased by Frank Cobb & Co. Ltd but closed soon afterwards.
