Broadhead, Gurney, Sporle & Co
Biographical Account: The firm operated from 17 Workhouse Croft between 1792 and 1800. Such short partnerships were not unusual and many firms changed partners, names and premises several times during the course of trading. The firm later became Broadhead and Atkin, then R. Broadhead & Co and Atkin Brothers, all prolific manufacturers of domestic metalwares. In the 1790s the company manufactured Old Sheffield Plate products as well as Britannia metal.
