Alongside his career in books, Quentin Blake also taught illustration and was head of the Illustration Department at the Royal College of Art between 1978 and 1986. Throughout his career he has won many prices and in 1999 became the first ‘Children’s Laureate’ a position intended to promote children’s literature. He is now a Patron of the Campaign for Drawing, an exhibition curator and actively supports drawing related projects.
