Biographical Account: In the 1930s the Sippel brothers acquired the works of Eyre, Ward & Co at Cadman Street in the Don Valley. The Sippels were German Jewish cutlers who escaped persecution in their home country. The family firm continued to trade until the mid 1970's when, like many Sheffield firms they became unable to compete with the cutlery industry of the far east.
