This specimen of marshwort was found at Doncaster Race Course in 1794 by the naturalist Jonathon Salt. Salt's herbarium is an extremely important collection, as it can tell us a lot about the local environment prior to industrialisation. This species, which as the name suggests, thrives in boggy ground, tells us that the area around Doncaster Race Ground was a marsh at the end of the 18th century.
