Hennell has captured a peaceful, calm landscape during a time of conflict. An enclosed bay with small boat on tranquil water, the coastal defences in the foreground with rusty anchors and wires. During the Second World War Hennell spent time recording the military activity in Iceland. At the start of the war Iceland was neutral, but as the war progressed, Denmark had been invaded and the Allies were trying to persuade Iceland to join them.
