In this watercolour you can see two men in the army barracks, washing and cleaning behind the cook house. The cook house was a large hut where the staff would go for meal times. During the Second World War Edward Ardizzone was an Official War Artist. He travelled around England, Scotland and Ireland drawing scenes of Britain preparing for invasion and of military and civilian life.
