This watercolour sketch captures the hustle and bustle of the bus stop at the Place National, Dieppe. You can almost feel the rumble of the tyres as the bus in the foreground passes by. It was probably painted on one of Gosse’s visits to her house near Dieppe. Sylvia Gosse is well known for her paintings which seem to depict a slice of life as it happens, rather than a posed or staged scene.
