It has been suggested that Gosse visited Bath around 1919 to see Walter Sickert, where she made sketches for this etching. She made many other prints of scenes around the Bath area. Her etchings show a similarity style to her tutor and friend Walter Sickert, she absorbed his technique, but her work has a more gentle approach. Gosse shared Walter Sickert’s belief in the importance of draughtsmanship. Her subjects included domestic interiors, street scenes, the daily life of her friends and neighbours and music halls.
