The Smith Lepidoptera collection comprises around 5000 specimens of moth and butterfly. The specimens were collected mainly from the UK, Nepal and South America by several different naturalists throughout the 20th century. This specimen of Hummingbird Hawkmoth as found in Buckinghamshire in the 1930s. Confirmed UK records of this species are rare prior to the 1950s, making this an important specimen.
