The Smith Lepidoptera collection comprises around 5000 specimens of moth and butterfly. The specimens were collected mainly from the UK, Nepal and South America by several different naturalists throughout the 20th century. This specimen was collected by the Sheffield born naturalists, John Hewitt, who lived and worked in Sarawak at the beginning of the 1900s.
