This watercolour shows a chair designed by the Omega Workshops which Roger Fry and other members of the Bloomsbury Group founded in 1913.
They believed that some of the key ideas of Post-Impressionism, such as bright colours and bold, simplified forms, should be applied to design, removing the division between the fine and decorative arts.
The chair and bowl have been painted in bold simplified forms that are bordering on abstraction.
