This stretch of Janson Street in the Carbrook area of east Sheffield has changed dramatically since Colin Coates painted the neighbourhood shops and homes on an overcast day in the 1950s. Although the brick-paved road has been replaced with a dual carriageway, the 1874 School Board building visible in the background still stands.
