Anne Redpath is well known for her still lifes and paintings of interiors with everyday household objects.
Redpath was influenced by her teachers at Edinburgh School of Art and was part of The Edinburgh School of colourist influenced painters. She was also directly influenced by Modern French painters like Henri Matisse, and Post Impressionists Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard.
These influences can be seen in her use of a palette knife to apply thick layers of paint in a technique called impasto, and also in her use of bold colours and flattened perspectives.
