This painting of the colourful houses of Pittenweem was painted on Anne Redpath’s return to Scotland. Pittenweem is a small and isolated fishing village, near Fife on the east coast of Scotland.
Redpath grew up in Scotland but then went to live in Northern France. She returned to Scotland in 1934, where she started sketching the countryside, villages and coastal scenes.
