John Philip Bunney, known as 'Pippo' was the artist's son. He was born in 1867, while his parents were based in Florence. Sadly, Pippo was drowned in 1885 whilst serving an apprenticeship at sea. Within the Bunney Collection are many personal and emotive images of his wife and children like this, which show another side to Bunney, who is more generally known for his architectural studies and landscapes.
