This vase is decorated with stylised mythical beasts from the Chinese legend 'The Nine Sons of the Dragon'. On the sides are 'Taotie', a vicious, hungry animal with large eyes and a gaping mouth. These vases copy large bronze versions from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
