Ivy and Nathaniel are from Andrew Hunt’s series, Portraits from the Market. The portraits were made of visitors and store holders from the Moor market in Sheffield. Hunt’s photorealist paintings can be seen as both portraits of the individuals he met as well as archetypal portraits that represent a moment in life. Ivy shows a 94 year old woman, and Nathaniel a 9 year old boy. We wear our histories on our faces and bodies which change and develop as we age. Ivy’s face shows a life well lived, whilst Nathaniel’s shows the hope and promise of a boy embarking on life.
