Leonard Beaumont was inspired by landscape and architecture. He enjoyed travelling around Europe, never drawing on the spot but creating paintings and prints from memory. Although drawn from memory, each etching is very realistic in style, showing great attention to detail, with carefully hatched shadows of the buildings and people on the street. “My plates are compositions, rather than transcripts of nature.”
