This chalk drawing is of George William Patrick Grant who was a pilot in the Second World War. Eric Kennington drew many portraits of men and women in the war, 52 of these were published in 1942 in “Drawing the R.A.F”. Kennington was predominantly a sculptor, creating many war memorials, however during the war years he specialised in portraits, mainly working in pastels or producing lithographs.
