These two pencil sketches are of Pilot Officer Mason, who was part of the Royal Australian Air Force. Mason received the Distinguished Flying Cross, which was a military decoration awarded to personnel in the British RAF and other commonwealth countries. It was given for "an act or acts of valour, courage or devotion to duty whilst flying in active operations against the enemy".
