Tam Joseph takes his inspiration from his own life experiences. UK School Report addresses the effect of the stereotypes placed on black boys and young men in the British educational system of the 1980s. The comments ‘Good at Sports’, ‘likes music’ and ‘Needs surveillance’, represent a destructive theme of racial stereotyping. Suggesting that the individual’s educational ambitions are being shaped and limited by the treatment they receive in school.
