Harold Gilman was a painter associated with the Camden Town Group. He lived at 100 Wilbury Road, Letchworth during the early 1900s with his wife and children. The house had been commissioned as they previously lived in a much smaller house in Letchworth. However, shortly after it was built, his wife left with his three children for Chicago.
Spencer Gore met Gilman in 1910 at an Allied Artists’ Association meeting. Gore painted a number of different views of Gilman’s house in around 1912.
