Paul Hill was a prominent part of the photography scene in Sheffield during the 1970s. It was a time when many people didn’t know how to deal with photography, so Hill began testing the boundaries. His work from this period explores the human form, often experimenting with shadows and composition. He started his career as a photo journalist, then began teaching at Trent Polytechnic, where he began to explore the possibilities of photography with his students.
