“I think drawings and sculptures are really very closely connected, and most of my drawings are ideas for sculptures, although I may not use them. In a sense I think sculptor’s drawings are much more 3-D than painter’s drawings.” Elisabeth Frink Frink made sculpture by using an armature and wet plaster to build up forms. She then carved into the distressed and broken surface before it was cast in bronze. The texture in sculpture was similar to the one she achieved in pencil in this work.
