This is a pen or writing case, made in Turkey or Iran, probably in the 1800s. Cases like this are known as ‘qalamdan’ or ‘kalamdan’.
The case is made of bronze and has an incised decoration on the surface. The long oblong part is for storing pens. The inkwell has a ‘bombe’ shape and a tightly fitting hinged lid.
