These scissors were manufactured by the Sheffield firm Thomas Wilkinson & Son and are made of Stainless steel with black painted handles. They are specially shaped with a straight edge to enable the effective cutting of cloth for tailors and dressmakers. Scissormakers (or ‘scissorsmiths’ as they were sometimes known) had a wide range of patterns for making customized scissors for a variety of uses and professions.
