This arm guard is decorated with figures on horseback armed with bows, daggers, swords and shields. These show members of the Persian royal court hunting wild animals such as gazelles, deer and bears. It was considered important for leaders and warriors to be able to hunt well, as the same skills would be needed on the battlefield.
