Bone clamp
Date Made/Found: 2010
Manufacturer: Veterinary Instrumentation , British
Material and Medium: Stainless steel
Department: Decorative Art
Accession Number: T1271
This stainless steel clamp is based on a traditional design used in both human and veterinary bone surgery, to hold bones or parts of bone during repair. It was manufactured in Sheffield by Veterinary Instrumentation Ltd, Heeley, in 2010. The company was created as a response to the lack of appropriate instrumentation for veterinary surgical procedures. Most of the available instruments were simply smaller versions of products designed for human surgery. This lightweight version is suitable for use on cats and dogs, whereas human patterns are typically much too large.
