This unusual object was created as part of an installation named 'Intervention' by Christoph Zellweger for the Metalwork Gallery, Millennium Galleries. The objects produced in the display were influenced by works in the Designated Metalwork Collection and were designed to inspire, surprise and entertain visitors. The works in the installation were made from stainless steel in combination with other materials. Each piece was designed to resemble a part of the human body. This object is named 'Body Piece N10'. It combines stainless steel and polystyrene and is shaped in the form of a human kidney. Each of the objects displayed in Intervention was highly polished and visually attractive. However, they were made from the same material as medical tools and certain surgical implants, creating a challenging dichotomy for the viewer. Most of the works were also designed so that they could be worn as a piece of jewellery.
