A Roman silver denarius of Trajan, dating from AD 101-102. This coin is part of a hoard of 48 denarii found in the Brightside area of Sheffield in 1854. 17 of these coins were presented to the Sheffield Literary and Philosophical Society by the Duke of Norfolk upon whose land they were found. The objects collected by this society form the basis of Museums Sheffield collections.
