This is a dice from Alexandria in Egypt. It is made from a dark purple veined stone, possibly serpentine. The numbered faces are formed of irregularly drilled holes, some of which are still filled with a white inlay. It probably dates to the period of Roman rule in Egypt, around 30 BC to 395 AD.
