Pandinus imperator
Common Name: Emperor Scorpion
Place Object Found: Takoradi
Department: Natural History
Accession Number: F1928.2
No-one knows why, but many species of scorpion glow green under Ultraviolet light. It's possible that this evolved by chance, providing neither a benefit or a cost. Some scientists believe that this strange adaptation may enable scorpions to use their entire bodies as light sensors, but no evidence has been confirmed.
