This specimen of young Raccoon was found near to the M1 motorway in South Yorkshire in 1984. This species is normally found in North America and no-one knows how it came to be so far from home; it was probably an escaped pet or zoo animal. It was picked up by the RSPCA, but it was in pretty poor condition and sadly died shortly after.
