This specimen is part of a folio of pressed seaweeds collated by Margaret Gatty and her daughter, Horatia. Almost all of the contents of the folio were collected between 1850 to 1864. The specimen was collected at King George's Sound - a natural harbour off the coast of Western Australia. It was almost certainly collected by the Gatty's close friend, William Henry Harvey, who studied in this area for many years.
