This specimen is part of a folio of pressed seaweeds collated by Margaret Gatty and her daughter, Horatia. Almost all of the contents of the folio were collected between 1850 to 1864. The specimen was provided by a friend of the Gattys, Dr David Landsborough. The Gattys knew Landsborough from 1850 until his death in 1854, so although undated, the specimen is likely to have been collected at some point around then.
