Massim war shield made of thick wood and is curved. Front is painted in black (soot) with a complex pattern on the lower half (depiciting woman's private part coloured in red - ochre) and with numerous small divided rectangles elsewhere. Figures of bird like. The back is plain and painted in brown with hand grip of double bent wood. Some lime in fill (white in colour). Symbolism is complex. It has been used previously and possibly re-painted for sale later on because condition is pretty good.
